Qualcomm Cultivates Innovation Through the Arts

Qualcomm’s community involvement programs aim to develop educated, healthy, culturally vibrant communities worldwide. Through its support of arts education and outreach programs, the company helps young people develop innovative minds, and expands cultural enrichment opportunities to in-need populations.

“As a company driven by innovation, Qualcomm values and encourages creativity and imagination. Our support of the arts helps advance these principles that have been at the core of our success.”
— Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, Chief Executive Officer of Qualcomm

The company’s most recent partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD) exemplifies its commitment to the arts. To develop young arts enthusiasts and cultivate future museum members and supporters, Qualcomm was instrumental in the development of the Free Under 25 program at the museum. The company’s major sponsorship of this new initiative, which launched in conjunction with the grand opening of the expanded MCASD Downtown campus in 2007, provides free admission to all visitors ages 25 and under. The Free Under 25 program has been very successful, with over 12,000 young people enjoying free admission in 2007 and a 124% increase in attendance by 18- to 25-year olds since its inception.

Hugh Davies, The David C. Copley Director of MCASD says, “We recognize that young adults often have limited disposable income, and through Qualcomm’s leadership and generosity we are able to eliminate any challenges this group may have with admission. The program has been a tremendous success and would not have been possible without Qualcomm’s commitment to corporate philanthropy.”
