ON NATIONAL CORPORATE PHLANTHROPY DAY
Phoenix launched a host of new communications, employee recognition, and engagement activities to celebrate National Corporate Philanthropy Day this year, raising awareness of the many charitable ways in which companies help strengthen their communities.
DETAILS
Phoenix placed an op-ed advertisement — "Corporate Cupid" — in three Hartford-area publications to promote corporate philanthropy and to bring attention to its philanthropic activities as well as the generosity of its employees. The ad ran as part of the company's local bi-monthly op-ed advertising program, which highlights important community issues and showcases organizations and partnerships that are making a difference.
Phoenix introduced a new recognition program honoring more than 400 employees who last year took advantage of company's volunteer program, donating their services during working hours at a nonprofit partner organization. Other honorees participated in a company-sponsored volunteer programs including Habitat for Humanity builds, United Way Day of Caring, among others. An advertisement — "Our Greatest Gift" — ran in The Hartford Courant on February 25, listing all of these wonderful volunteers. Employee volunteers also received a handwritten thank-you note from Dona D. Young, chairman, president and CEO, and were recognized on the company's intranet site.
Finally, on National Corporate Philanthropy Day, Phoenix launched a new food drive to support local programs in its three home office locations of Hartford, CT, Greenfield, MA, and Albany, NY. Employees contributed nutritious items such juice boxes, breakfast bars, and cereal for elementary school students to take home in backpacks on the weekends.
