WHY PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL CORPORATE PHILANTHROPY DAY?

CECP planned a host of media-friendly events for this day and has worked with partner agencies around the country to publicize these events and communicate the overall benefits and importance of corporate philanthropy.

National Corporate Philanthropy Day is an opportunity to:

  • Tell your copmany's philanthropy story on a designated nationally-recognized day.
  • Engage your senior management, employees, and nonprofit partners in your giving programs.
  • Raise awareness of the importance of corporate philanthropy.
  • Publicize your company's philanthropic initiatives, benefitting from the added media interest.
  • Enhance relationships with peers and thought-leaders in the corporate giving community.

11 WAYS TO GET YOUR COMPANY INVOLVED IN 2009

Giving professionals can plan special programs at your offices around the country. Try the following ideas, ranging from simple to more involved.

  1. Take advantage of NCPD by encouraging your CEO to join peers at the 'Board of Boards' CEO Conference.
  2. Send a company-wide letter from your CEO about your philanthropy activities and achievements.
  3. Post a special message about your company's corporate giving program to your Intranet.
  4. Post banners and distribute flyers about your company's philanthropic objectives in communal areas at your corporate headquarters.
  5. Add your corporate philanthropy initiatives to CECP's website.
  6. Announce a new grant or launch a new partnership.
  7. Work with your local RAG (Regional Association of Grantmakers) or CVC (Corporate Volunteer Council) to organize a collaborative program for grantmakers and nonprofits in your area.
  8. Coordinate a volunteer event or give employees a paid day to volunteer.
  9. Take senior management on a site visit to a nonprofit partner's headquarters.
  10. Plan a Charity Fair, inviting local nonprofit organizations to company locations to meet employees.
  11. Create an internal employee recognition program and announce the winners on NCPD.
